Also, the translation will be done by a professional translator, and will be just as good, if not better, as commercial game localizations.
Oh, and by the way...

Really? I've seen some lines from the game on these forums that you translated yourself, Osiris, and I think you'd be a great translator. If you're paying someone to do a translation, I personally believe that you could keep the money and do a great job yourself.

Bam, there you go then. The perfect man for the job, you are. Why didn't you say that in the first place? It could have eased my fears sooner.

So... the cat's out of the bag and the script is finally dumped (no one's really confirmed it yet)?

I found a very useful tutorial online for ripping ISO images from PSX discs: http://forums.ngemu.com/960723-post102.html
The necessary program and plug-in are both free, and linked for download. I followed the instructions and ripped my copy of Policenauts PSX perfectly. After compression, the total size of the two images was 900 MB! And that was with 7z!
Might seem a little permature to start ripping your discs now, but since these guys claim that we'll have the translation BEFORE year's end, it's never too early these days!
I KNEW I'd end up having a use for my "TheBest" copy of Policenauts!

Well it's only January, and they might run into some unforeseen problems. I wouldn't get too excited, yet.
You did remind me, though. I have two Saturn copies of Policenauts. I can use one of the boxes for the English version.

YES! ISO PRODUCER! I've been troubleshooting all of the CD-Ripping and registry manuals for the future "ripping assistance and running" operations concerning the patch compatibility –with mainly CDRWIN3 and the extinct but the still trendy "ISO Producer."
In fact ISO producer is the only thing I'm encouraging people to use in the manuel. It rips RAW, nice and easy ISO files for any of those hard to reach places your nromal non-electric tooth brush cannot clean!

Well, you're in luck, because by following the tutorial that's exactly what you'd get: a couple of huge-ass Mode 2 ISO files.
And I always thought BIN/CUE images were annoying too. CUE files getting messed up all the time by people writing them improperly and whatnot.

AHAHAH yes I flubbed above, ISO producer rips those RAW, nice and easy ISO files for any of those hard to reach places your normal non-electric tooth brush cannot clean!
If ISO producer was a man I'd let him come over and have sex with my wife.
And to think the FRENCH created it.

Wasn't there originally a line in MGS where Ocelot mentions that the French were also the first to apply electricity in torture- ahem, I mean interrogation? The French can be cool.

Hey, I'm new here, and am very excited to see this happening...I have snatcher, and all of the metal gears. I love Kojima's work, but I'm afraid this game will never be in America...I have a few quick questions about this...Am I going to need an original copy of this to work, or is an emulated version the only way, how far along are you guys, and will the patch be available on this site? Thanks for the information and for doing this!

Uh oh, looks like Plissken got out of his cage again. That electric toothbrush we gave him must have strengthened his teeth enough to tear through the lock...

You will need your own copy of the game, yes. As mentioned above, the translation has been underway for a while now. The patch will be hosted on its own site, but when the time comes we'll be sure to mention it here as well.

Well, that's definitly good news.
Now all I need is the Playstation version of Policenauts...arrgh, it's been three weeks, since I bought it and it still hasn't arrived.

I personally feel slightly hurt that you guys didn't make a big announcement that the text was finally dumped and that the translation had begun. After five years of waiting, I thought you guys would burst in here with a post in all caps that said something like "HOLY SHIT! WE DUMPED ALL THE TEXT! THE TRANSLATION CAN BEGIN! YOU'LL HAVE THE PATCH BY YEAR'S END!!!!"

I'm glad most people here are reserved as they are actually. Maturity comes with age. (Now, I am not saying you are all old gits, don't mistake that).

14 what? Triple years? That makes you 42 years old.
Ha! gotcha!

Cool, Kojima is meant for elder guys like yourself anyway, and people with intellect, which makes me the sore thumb sticking out from all others here.
Oh and anybody ever notice this; Tv series/moviecalled 'Lost In Space'. Just thought of that, interesting....sorry, don't mind my randam talk.

Yes, Lost in Space was this old American TV show from the 60's about outer space or something. One of the cast members was a young Bill Mumy, who later went on to be part of my favorite band, Barnes & Barnes. They're best known for the song Fish Heads.
