I actually have some friends that go to a high school with an extremely awesome German program and they're all pretty much fluent in the language. One of them's actually going to be a foreign exchange student later this year.
Personally, I'd kind of like to learn Aramaic in addition to Spanish and Japanese...

I disagree with you on all points. The music during Harry's death (which is Redbook audio, not chip generated) is excellent and adds a lot to the scene. And while no voice acting track is perfect, Snatcher's is very good; better than any video game voice acting at the time, and better than a lot of it today.Kaminari wrote:The music is so bad in the Sega CD port that Harry's death is turned into a hilarious joke. That, and the English dubbing is so awful it's just fantastic. Ray Van Steen is amazingly cheesy

Don't act all elitist just because you can understand the Japanese voice acting. Sure, some lines are overacted, but overall, it's an excellent voice track. For that matter, I have never, ever heard anyone complain about a Japanese voice track being cheesy.Kaminari wrote:Heh, I'm not surprised. That's probably because you were raised with the English version. I had the chance to be exposed to the original Japanese one long before I actually tried a Mega CD, and boy what a laugh when I heard Benson Cunningham in English! "And, err... Here is some MONEY!"

Same here. I really cannot believe Ray Van Steen also voiced Elijah, since that was so well done in comparison to Chin Shu Oh and Benson when he was human (he seemed to get much better once you find out he is a snatcher, for some reason87th wrote:I love the English voice-overs. Benson Cunningham's voice just sounds a little silly, though. I don't have anything against it- it just makes me smile a bit. It's not an imperfection, just a quirk. Kind of adds to the experience, for me.

In my opinion the PCE version is by far the best, I wouldn't care that much, the main reason why I like the PCE version the most...simply because of the music, the music is far better and in many parts totally different from the one in the Sega CD version. And the Sega CD version music is rather boring.
I have one question though...who's idea was it, to put Mika and Katrina in the Sega CD ending?
The opening with Gillian and Jamie in the Sega CD version was a nice thing, instead of just showing it as a manga in the manual it appeared in the actual game.
But I don't think that it was Kojimas intention to let Mika and Katrina appear in the end and as far as I know the english language version is the only one where they appear in the end.
Enlighten me!

I believe that was the decision of the localization team. If I recall right, Napoleon doesn't appear (his sneeze, anyway) in the PCE version either.Charlie Johnson wrote:I have one question though...who's idea was it, to put Mika and Katrina in the Sega CD ending?

Oops! Now I get it! I thought you meant that he doesn't appear at all in the game.Osiris wrote:When exactly does he appear? In the Sega CD, he sneezes after MG appears, but I just listened to the audio from the PCE and after MG appears they jump into the plane and leave. Is it before this?

i already startet to wonder...
Well, no, I can't remember hearing Napoleons sneeze in the PCE version.
And frankly, until today I never really understood why you hear him sneeze at the end of the Sega CD version.

But his appearance at the airport wasn't in Kojima's original plan. He might not even know it's in the SCD version, if he never played it.Henry Spencer wrote:It makes me think...if a sequel would ever be made; he would be a snatcher. Why else would he follow you this far? He wasn't exactly the best of friends or anything...
Besides, I thought he was going to end up being a snatcher throughout the game anyway.
It makes more sense to me that he would continue to lay low, like he said he would.

heh, when I saw his portrait in the PCE version, I just thought "... that doesn't look like him at all?"Charlie Johnson wrote:By the way...is there any explanation why the young Elijah Madnar looks totally different in the Sega CD version. There's no resemblence at all, between the PCE young Elijah and the Sega CD young Elijah.
