Hydlide, the worst NES game ever made.....

A forum to talk about stuff that doesn't fit in other categories, such as general Kojima games discussion, other games, etc.

Hydlide, the worst NES game ever made.....

Post by JunkerMike »

Seriously, I don't even NEED to play this game to experience how bad it is. All I needed to do is see it in action to experience its suckage. It's so bad it's not even funny. The developers of this game must've made it over night. And there's only like 3 BGMs in the whole game, and there's one that you hear like 98% of the whole time you play, and it's so fucking annoying, but it WILL get STUCK in your head like some kind of virus or cold or something. It happened to me, and I never even played this piece of crap.

Not to mention that that BGM you hear through 98% of the game blatantly bears a resemblance to the Indiana Jones theme. I can't even believe that after that, they made SUPER Hydlide on the Genesis and Virtual Hydlide on the Sega Saturn! Before you know it, there will be "Hydlide Advance" or "Hydlide DS" if there aren't any already! Plus I saw this earlier today:

And as you can see, the video in that last link is part of a series called "Games you'd play in hell", yet I continue to research this piece of crap, and believe it or not, this franchise is popular in Japan! And today, I found pictures of the box for the Famicom version on eBay, and now I'm worried that I AM going to hell, because I saved them on my HD, but only because it's tough to find scans of boxes and carts for japanese Famicom games on the net, especially on the internet. Seriously, I really am worried, but then again, it might just be because I have OCD and Aspergers Syndrome. I also have an urge to read the manual for the Famicom one just for fuck sake, but I DO NOT plan on buying the game or playing it. Maybe somebody will scan it, but I doubt it. Friday The 13th, Back To The Future, Ghostbusters, they're bad, but at least they're tolerable and have replay value believe it or not. I hope I never have to play any games that bear the name "Hydlide". I'm even more ashamed that I saved those pics of the box for the Famicom version to my HD! Anyway, that's enough........for now......... Oh wait, one last thing, some guy even made an online shrine for this atrocity of a game, but I'll post the link later if I can still find it. Not that I care.

I've seen PiB's review. I think he pretty much nailed it in the head. What does TUS stand for?

Wow, how ironic; a person from TUS posted that video, a site that Junker HQ are closely associated with! What a coincidence!
