I don't think that MGS4 will be the last MG game, I just hope it will be. I wouldn't mind a series of indirect sequels, though. In fact, I'd be quite interested in seeing some games that focused on characters who were unconnected to the previous games, but still involved with the MetalGear projects. In MGS2, it was said that almost every country in the world had their own MetalGear. Surely there's potential for a couple of games there?

Yeah, Konami will order Kojima Productions to continue bringing out the MG games, with or without Kojima's involvement. Shuyo Murata is very good though, he has been working as the writer of most of Kojima's games since ZOE. If anybody would deserve to carry on from Kojima's position; it would be him or Tomokazu Fukushima (been working with Kojima since MGS1 as another writer)!

In all honesty though, I would prefer things to end on a high note, like 87th, which MGS4 looks like it might be (looks a lot more story-based than MGS3, I mean, I could pretty much tell, even from the trailers, that MGS3 would not be very deep, but rather, more symbolic; MGS4 looks like it will be a lot more of that 'closing chapter' feel about it all, bringing back all of the surviving characters to most likely be killed off).

If fan service must continue; then I'd personally like to play as Liquid and delve into his past and show the 'gray area' for his character, like they have for Big Boss.

Sorry if I revived this topic, but this is a screenshot of the credits at the end of Snatcher on MSX. It says either PROJECT 5 or PROJECT S. Does that mean Project S/5 has been in development all these years?

Pretty sure that's a 5 -- I think it's just a cool coincidence.

Hahaha, he's right - That's a 5. Plus, no project would be in development for that long; No game company is going to fund a project that huge. The last two projects that come to mind that were abnormally long were Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Half-Life 2.

Duke Nukem Forever simply doesn't count.

Look a couple lines under it -- it says Project 1, so the other one is most likely a 5.

hehe. I like the sega cd version of Snatcher. the msx is so complicating for me to use, and the graphics looks wierd and creeps me out.

Ack! All right, I really guess it is a 5 and 1. Trying to add mystery but there we go...
Don't forget Shenmue, that took a while, didn't it? Especially since it was intended for the Sega Saturn...
MSX Version isn't so bad. It has long loading times so feels longer and Gillian is more disgusting..

Only a mild bit of Project 'S' news, but the new issue of Famitsu Wave DVD has stuff from the Snake Vs. Zombie Event on it. It'll be a while before I can upload it, and even if I do, it'll remain untranslated (as I'm no good with Japanese). Could "someone" (read: Osiris) please help me out? ;)

If the wait's too long, or if someone wants to pay far too much for their own copy, the thing's on Play-Asia for double the shelf price.

Thanks. I doubt there will be new info (especially about Project "S"), but I'd be really interested to find out what my three favourite game creators talked about there in a [relatively] unedited form.

Regarding Project S, am I right in saying that Gibson's Japanese VA is the same who played him in the Japanese versions of Snatcher? It seems to be easy to track down old voice actors in Japan. I don't think that is the case in the west, for example if Metal Gear in MGS4 was to be voiced, I don't think the original VA, Lucy Childs, would be the one to do it.

From what they said at Snake vs. Zombie, it wasn't clear if they'd be using the same guy (though I think they should and will).

Ryan said on the latest podcast that it still isn't clear if there'll be an English version of the radio play.

Maybe I'm reading too deeply into this, but here's a snipet from a Goichi Suda interview.
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/1 ... php?page=2
Goichi Suda wrote:...Like Mr. (Hideo) Kojima. He's a top-tier creator who debuted in adventure beginnings, and today he still says he wants to continue creating adventure games.
Does this mean that Kojima still wants to make a Project 'S' adventure game? The only thing that Suda should know about Kojima's plans are his plans for Project 'S'. It could mean that Project 'S' will produce at least one Adventure game.

Again, I'm probably reading too deeply into this.

EDIT- Then he goes and says this-
Goichi Suda wrote:I don't have any plans to work on a game with Mr. Kojima at the moment
Who knows?

A friend of Kojima's told me he wants to make more adventure games like Snatcher and Policenauts, but he feels the market isn't right for them at the moment. Not games for handhelds, but home consoles where he can really craft a cinematic experience.

I better make something clear in case you guys misinterpreted what I said... He's always wanted to do them. This isn't some recent comment he made. He's always wanted to make more games like those, but he feels they wouldn't sell well. That's what's holding him back.

The point about making new games is fair, but why not at least remake Snatcher for DS? He won't have to worry about crafting a cinematic experience, I just want to play it on my DS! :(

For something like that you'd get a different team doing a port... just like the Saturn, PSX and Sega CD versions. Of course we love one of those even with its differences to its "original".

I honestly think that America's ready/wants a new genre, and that more games like Snatcher and Policenauts would be welcome additions to the DS's library. Look at the success of the Ace Attorney series. People are getting tired of the same old types of games, and the DS is the perfect platform to give people something new.
Life and Death hang in perfect balance...I'm only here to tip the scales.
