Policenauts has garnered a lot of attention from various magazines.

Those including gamesTM (one of the biggest gaming magazines over here in the UK and the one I read whenever I see it), whom shall review the game after the patch is released. There was that article in that Australian magazine, forgotten the name of it, where it had the interviews with Jeff Lupetin and Lucy Childs, they had their own little section describing Policenauts and the patch. Then there was a Playstation magazine showing interest in it as well. I believe there was more as well, forgot the rest. It has gained a lot of interest since the project began, though. Rightfully, too. A lot of people have busted their ass to work on this game.

Wow, sounds like Policenauts and the patch have gotten more publicity than I previously thought - I only knew of the few magazine scans here!

That's quite amazing, though - I didn't realize so many people were writing about the effort! Indeed, it will be an amazing event when the patches are released!

I understand the progress must be kept secret, but, damn, I wish we had a new screen shot or something! Either way, I'll be here supporting the effort.

Are you guys done yet? It's almost October already! Don't pull a "Christmas release" shizzle on us, kay? November is when most games are released, so I'll give you till that month is over. If not, I'll find somebody to send you angry letter's and such. Conspiracy theories too. Please, pick up the pace! Anyway, I salute your efforts.

If you're that antsy you could always play the blade runner PC game, it should hold you over for a while.

It's not fair to threaten them with anything but hugs, as they've been working very hard for years just to please us by translating Kojima's masterpiece for us, the non-multilingual, Even if they were done the moment they started, it's up to them to release it whenever they please. Also, a Christmas release would mean most of us were away from school or work, meaning we could enjoy the game fully and without large stops in between.

Those type of messages are the ones that make creators and authors hate their fans - Leave them to do their thing. This topic is here if they decide to give us an update. (At that point, we take the info and discuss it endlessly.)

Our anxiousness does increase with every day, but that's a good thing - We're excited over something that will be amazing. (And free, as 87th pointed out.)

Interesting timing - I just bought Killer7 (PS2 version) last week! I haven't had time to really get into it, but I've seen the first hour, and, I must say, it really is the weirdest Capcom game I've ever played.

It's also one of their best out of the PS2/Xbox/GC generation. Trust me, it's not for everybody, but it does get better the further in it you get. The plot gets deeper.

Ultimately, the end result I'm hoping for is a revived interest in Policenauts. For the game to be available to a wider audience, so they can experience something other than Metal Gear. Once this translation's done, I hope that gamers and Kojima fans out there will play and enjoy a forgotten piece of history.

I'm going to foresee not alot of activity at first, then in a couple years, an internet phenom. 'splosion.
Hopefully.
Eitherway, I re-realized last night that this is gonna be awesome.

Edit: I just had a thought. What time of the year does Policenauts take place in? For some reason I keep thinking Christmas lol.

Hahaha! On the note of having curiosity aroused by one of the junkerhq guys, I must say I (got a copy of) played both the SegaCD and PS1 Lunar:Eternal Blue games and really enjoyed them. As for the translation I am definitely willing to wait. Don't let whiney-@ss complaints from fans like me discourage you! The reward of finally having it done/releasable will far outweigh the tough times you chosen peoples have been put through.

All this damn talk about Killer7 (my favorite example was Ratperson's request for a "ROM" of it last year) makes me want to get it now. If it's cheap at the local GameStop (run by nasty employees with Tourette's syndrome), I'll do just that.

As far as your Christmas suspicion, you're probably thinking of Snatcher. As far as Killer7 goes, it's the cheapest it will ever be at $5 USD at GameStop. As far as Lunar games go, I think the PlayStation versions might be the better choice for newcomers, just because of the voices and graphics. Either way, Lunar is a fantastic series - It's a shame the Lunar 3 project was canned so quickly after its announcement. (Another Working Designs great to consider is Grandia for the PlayStation. It's an amazing. amazing RPG. Great for newcomers, as well.)

As far as Policenauts goes, I think there are still too many individuals in the dark when it comes to PlayStation emulation, let alone Kojima's less internationally-known works. A lot will depend on how far news spreads of the patch. However, I can see MGS4 raising Kojima-awareness on its own - I guess that would depend on the patch's status in relation to MGS4's release.

Sounds familiar.
I didn't like the game very much at all when I first started playing it, but I was given it as a present and I was quite smitten with the aesthetics, so I kept playing despite that. By the time I was halfway through the second level, I completely loved the game. When I had finished it, I considered it one of the very best games I'd ever played, and if it wasn't for the rather uninspired fight with Ayame Blackburn, I would consider it to be utterly perfect.

Actually, both Lethal Weapon 1 and Snatcher had a Christmas backdrop (now I think about it... so did Diehard 1, Rambo 1, and some other action movies took place in this season. Favorite setting among macho-manly-movie directors?)

Spoiler:
Policenauts spoilers

In the original version for the PC-98, the snow in the intro was meant to symbolize stars in outer space. This is evident in that versions' ending, when Johnathan flies back to Earth. Marc mentioned that in his summary on the PC-98 version.

I remember the symbolism, but there might have also been a regular reason...though it was snowing, which could easily lead to the Christmas time thought.
