This calls for a celebration! Time to crack out that MGS wine I've been saving. 1998... Mmm... A vintage year, that was.

Just kidding. ;)

We would LOVE to be able to put our lives on hold to finish this project in one spurt, but we can't. Like Kris said, it just isn't possible. It has nothing to do with not wanting to or not caring enough, but finding time for it in between everything else.

We're going to update the main page of Policenauts.net to let people know about the delay so they don't need to email us to ask.

I've been waiting since 1996 to play this in English, and I'm sure a number of people here have too (or close to it). Everyone here would like to play it ASAP, but it's not that big a deal to wait a little more -- it's still in progress. It's not like it's been abandoned and they need to be convinced to continue work.

Hell, Lunar fans had to wait 10 years between new Lunar games, too. And NiGHTS = 11 years!

I was disappointed last year to learn it was ALMOST done at last but with no ETA, but meh. Just find something to keep you occupied :P Adventure games have kind of made a comeback lately, you know. Until someone pays them to finish (like Konami hires them and pays them a real salary), it's pretty easy to understand real life "getting in the way" of finishing.

When it's done though, it's the first thing on my list to blast through. I hope it's not released around when MGS4 comes out though, that's all I ask. TOO MUCH CONFLICT.

LOL... to true there. I keep hearing murmurs of a possible March/April release window for Metal Gear Solid 4... heck I would be happy with a May release. Its so hard to believe that it is almost ready for release, I believe they are in bug crunching mode as we speak. I think if I remember correctly I watched the very first MGS4 trailer around the time I first heard about the Policenauts translation... time flies I tell you, time flies.

I'm just happy to hear that they're still working on it. I was getting worried for a bit there. BTW, I just finished playing Snatcher, and I gotta play Policenauts in English now. I'm learning Japanese, but I'm not nearly far enough to read the text in a game (too much kanji). I'm really waiting for this one, I already bought the game and everything. Take your time translating guys, I'm happy knowing it's still being worked on.

no seriously, I would like to help out

I also wanted shining force 2 & 3 transalted and some website called shining force central is supposed to be doing it.

However they never came back to me when I offered money, hell I make decent cash and if I had enough cash, I would try to make all the sequels I ever wanted

Like Shenmue 3 for instance but thats another story

Never say never, especially when it comes to sequels to games with hardcore cult followings. I mean, who thought we'd ever get a sequel to Gunstar Heroes? (and who else was disappointed by it? I was so upset when I first played it, after waiting so long)

You can't really compare Gunstar Heroes with Shenmue, no offence. GS did not have a cliffhanger ending, nor did it have a company at that moment in time in debt (from the losses from Saturn and Dreamcast).

Sega really like their current business strategy, according to a PR guy in the American department, so I really doubt SIII anytime soon, if ever. NiGHTS was a lovely exception from Sega, though. Maybe. But remember; Shenmue is supposedly the most expensive videogame ever created (according to the Guinness World Records). I'd also like to see a new Skies Of Arcadia too. Maybe I'm too demanding, but I'd like a new Sega game that isn't Sonic or a platformer...

also what about streets of rage, I mean if you completed 3 with the bad ending, mr BIG was still alive but in the good ending, he was a brain.

Wiki sez: "Upon its Japanese release in late 1999, it was projected that two million units of the game would need to be shipped in order for the project to break even. The ambitious sales target was almost double that of the number of Dreamcast owners at the time."
For a company to make those kinds of decisions, I wouldn't have put it past them back then. But Sega's third-party now... They aren't willing to jump off of a bridge with a rope around their neck anymore...

He's called Mr. X (you're probably getting mixed up with another classic Sega title's boss character; Mr. Big from Michael Jackson's Moonwalker), but I agree, Streets Of Rage is up there on the top of my list alongside new games for Shenmue, Shinobi, Ristar (the least likely to ever happen again), Jet Set/Grind Radio and Skies Of Arcadia. Just making me think of what Sega are actually capable of makes me rather upset.

Has to be said though, BioWare are working on that new Sonic game...and it actually doesn't look half bad, I'm keeping my eye on that one.

Boy reading that list sure does bring back memories... I miss what Sega used to put out a couple of years ago... they where on fire during the Dreamcast era... recently to me it seems as though they are just not turning out software at the same quality I have come to expect from them.

It's all Sammy's fault that Sega is what it is today.

Ever since they came into the picture, every game that Sega has cranked out has been nothing but a piece of shit, each one stinking it up more than the last.

I would think that it's bad luck, bad marketing, and bad decisions on Sega's own part that they were bought out by Sammy. Then blame Sammy for ignoring their original fanbase and then bad luck, bad marketing, and bad decisions lol...

... Which brings me to an interesting question... Do you think gaming companies have the duty to "grow up" with their initial projected audience?
