Is everyone here against downloading it or something? i dont mean to be offensive or anything but in these times snatcher and policenauts are considered extremly rare games, and im sure these older versions are not even sold or made anymore... so what harm is it for us to just download them and emulate them? its not like we can go to gamespot or a pawnshop and buy one (except the sega cd snatcher) yes ebay is great, but konami isnt gonna make any money off us buying a japanese copy of a game they no longer make from some guy accross the country... so i just dont understan why alot of people get touchy when it comes to downloading such rarities that profits arent even made from anymore
I think if you really, really like the game in question and it's available to purchase, then you should consider buying it. Honestly, I wouldn't consider Snatcher or Policenauts extremely rare. Maybe certain versions, such as the PC versions, but not the PC Engine version. No, it doesn't go directly to the company when you buy it from a random person off ebay, but I think it is nice to know deep down that you paid for your copy. Isn't it? Anyway, that's just me.Turd Furgeson wrote:Is everyone here against downloading it or something? i dont mean to be offensive or anything but in these times snatcher and policenauts are considered extremly rare games, and im sure these older versions are not even sold or made anymore... so what harm is it for us to just download them and emulate them? its not like we can go to gamespot or a pawnshop and buy one (except the sega cd snatcher) yes ebay is great, but konami isnt gonna make any money off us buying a japanese copy of a game they no longer make from some guy accross the country... so i just dont understan why alot of people get touchy when it comes to downloading such rarities that profits arent even made from anymore
I don't have anything against downloading older games, since (as said before) the company doesn't actually get the money anymore. I have to agree with Osiris though, it feels much better to own an actual copy instead of just "owning" an ISO file or something like that. I have to say, Snatcher is always priced and sold around 75 bucks on ebay, so if somebody downloads the ISO for that one I don't blame them. Not to mention the fact that the system also adds up to the cost. It all depends on whether you think it's worth it to hold the game in your hands. I considered downloading an ISO file for Policenauts, but I knew that it would feel way cooler to actually own a copy, so I went and got one for like 25$. Seeing as it's an excellent game, I don't know anybody who couldn't just spare the couple extra dollars and order it online. Once again, I have nothing against people who download old games. I was just giving my two cents.

I couldn't have said it better. I think a lot of people apply to much of a gray area to downloading games on-line. Even though you can't just walk into your local electronic store and pick up Snatcher, Konami still has their trademark and copyright well in place for the game. I remember when people said that Dracula X was NEVER going to come out officially in the United States, and low and behold we now have a remake and the original on the PSP. Companies always guard their intellectual properties closely, and in our day and age of retro-gaming it is always possible to see a game again.JimboKudo wrote:I don't have anything against downloading older games, since (as said before) the company doesn't actually get the money anymore. I don't think that anyone here is being touchy or angry about downloading on-line, I know that I am not. But it does make me angry when I listen to people who have a library of DVD-R copies of Xbox360 or PS3 games... it takes money out of the developers hands, hurts future game development, and is just plain wrong... those lost sales may not impact the company itself, but you can bet they hurt the individual employees who have to feed their families... my two cents.

We are not against you guys doing whatever you please.. But the rules in the forum are few and very clear.. I guess that is all that is not allowed. You can discuss emulation, and other stuff. But we are kind of old school game lovers and just love our physical media in every sense. Maybe that is what you felt.
From the mathematical perspective, consciousness might be regarded as a second derivative of sensation.

29.00 bucks for mint condition... not a scratch on the disc or a crease in the manual, considering you can't buy very many used games, in Gamestop/EBgames anyway, in that condition for that price I was pleasantly surprised and quite pleased with what I got. I think the funny thing for me is that 29 is less than what I payed for Snatcher when it came out on the Sega-CD.The Prince II wrote:How affordable's "quite"?gatse_becker wrote:Actually you can buy it still... you should Ebay it, I just bought a copy last week and it was quiet affordable, if you can get one with the instruction books and original case it is totally worth it.
