That's why it's good to always have an open mind when you're going into something new. Don't set out to hate something before you've even tried it, ya know? Maybe that's why you didn't like the game the first time around. Of course, I'm hypocritical, because I do that myself. Hell, I also did it with TTS. Though to be honest, I've never been quite a fan of Kitamura's work. And I've been getting a bit more critical over Mr. Kojima's as well. Plus the obvious and sloppy technical flaws were enough to put me off, so when you combine all of that, I still don't like the game.
Hello everyone, I'm new here. Thought I'd kick off my first post with my general impressions of Twin Snakes. In short, I liked it a lot - but it has one huge problem. Thinking about it, the idea of a remake of Metal Gear Solid with Metal Gear Solid 2's gameplay and graphics is a superb idea. Unfortunately, the only person who seems to have worked on the game with the design aesthetic that statement implies is Ryuhei Kitamura. He gave Twin Snakes a fantastically over the top edge, with characters cart-wheeling and back flipping all over the place.
I absolutely loved the sheer stupidity in some of the cutscenes, like Snake jumping off a rocket aimed right at his head. However, I do understand that many of you didn't. Which i think is a shame.
But while Kitamura-san is too busy having fun working on a project that is theoretically the most expensive movie never made (he has no budget and a means to do whatever he wants) Silicon Knights just plough through it all by porting everything. Yep, 'porting' everything from MGS, right down to the restricted movements of Snake. So while I still enjoyed it (scoring it 88/100 for VideoGamesLife.com) my biggest problem is this:
That's Snake jumping into the air and running up walls and kicking debris right? Well why the Hell am I only able to run, roll, punch and roundhouse kick on the spot?
