So a PSP-2000 is the best bet? I can use it as a controller and see and hear the game on my hdtv? that would be shizzly-sweet.

thanks for the help.

Does it display it full screen or at the PSP's native resolution?

I'm curious because I picked up a PSP-2001 from Best Buy for $150 this week. The Pandora's Battery is slowly shipping from who-knows-where. My concerns here are 1) Will this even work, since it's firmware 4.01, and 2) TV-output via component cables, full-screen or window?

Should this work, I can't wait to load it up with emulators :D--and PSX games.

I think it's centered.. but I think you can stretch it with your TV's controls. Pandora will work on any firmware for 1k/2k.

You can adjust from the PSP if you want to scretch it to widescreen or leaving it in the normal resolution.

Or do what I do, play the game on an emulator, route the video output to a TV and use my Nintendo DS as a wireless gaming pad. Enchances the graphics a bit and you can use the widescreen without having to fiddle with TV settings.

Except the absolute best way would be to use a modded PS1(with connection better than composite) on a CRT tv. The native res of the game is 240p I believe. There are filters for emulators to make low res 2d graphics bearable on high res monitors/tvs, but they don't compare to unscaled/un-stretched/unfiltered original graphics on a tube tv.
What I will probably do is the same, though. Just play it on my high res monitor from epsxe or something. Controllers for PCs are cheap, and converters for console controllers are even cheaper.
Oh man, I can't wait.

Here, have an Easter Egg.

Image

Marc and I had a big conversation last night about whether or not this was in the PSX version or exclusive to Saturn. It's one of many unlockable Easter Eggs in the game, and there's more stuff going on in this particular one that I won't spoil for you.

I found it in VRAM and through some more digging, we figured out how to get it. Anyway, this is indeed unlockable in the PSX version and, of course, in the hack.

Saw it in the PSX Private Collection's Shooting Trainer, I encountered the other easter eggs as well.

Yes, to legally play it you need your own copy and can apply the translation patch through the computer. There's going to be an FAQ once it's ready.

We're only releasing the patch to it, so you will need a copy of Policenauts in order to play it in English. If you wanna get ahead of the game, you can rip both game discs to ISO - but you'll need it in that format to patch it.

At any rate, why not a status update?

So after the XDT graphical changes (which are currently done, from a tech standpoint), I went on to SHOTPAC graphics instead of the PAK ones. Shrug. We're pretty much almost done with SHOTPAC, but there's one 33x33 pixel icon I'm waiting on the other project coordinatiors to approve, etc. before I code it in. At any rate, it should be easy and quick to knock out.

What remains:
- 3 PAK graphics to change
- 5 movies to change overlays on
- The End Credits thing
- The big list of bugs/issues/little changes

The big list of little changes is the final step toward beta. Once we clear those out, we'll do beta testing and provided all that goes well, release.

When we get there, I might give out indications of the list like, "We've got 32 bugs." but it's a weird progress indicator as that number will go up and down as we find more bugs, fix more bugs, confirm fixes, reopen bugs, etc. We might even get to zero, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're done as we need 100% test coverage.

(i.e. That means I could fix all bugs, but then later on Marc could find something in Act 7 that adds to the bug list, so we won't be at zero anymore.)

So I dunno! I guess right now, while I wait on the icon stuff, maybe I'll start working on some other stuff, revisit it. Who knows. It's only like 8pm my time and I've got plenty of coffee and no work tomorrow. Why not ROM hack Policenauts?

If I was a girl, I would show you my titties and let you gawk at my snatch-er maybe not.

You know for a fact that you got this program back up on its feet. and that's why we all thank you.

BUT WE STILL THANK Marc and friends for not giving up in the first place. AS A MATTER OF FACT... in the Credits, you guys should ABSOLUTELY put your names in and date the shizzle for when it was completed. don't be modest, you guys deserve the recognition.

back up that info!

Happy Birthday Artemio!

(This forums doesn't even have a Birthday Thread or Random Thread. I would have to create a new topic just to say what I posted here... Which isn't even the most indicated place to post, but since the translation project is where all eyes are set to, I guess it makes some sense.)
