Philanthropy

Post by Zhofe »

Is there any information out there on the operations of Philanthropy prior to the Tanker incident of MGS2?

I remember reading the articles in Substance (the only one I can remember the name of is In The Darnkness of Shadow Moses) but I don't remember coming across anything about Philanthropy. Of course, I did read those back in 2003 and even then I was mostly skimming them, so I very well could have missed it.

That book was specifically about the Shadow Moses Incident, so it wouldn't cover any of Philanthropy's work.
Dunno if there's ever been anything written about it, sorry (well, other than fan made mangas and the like).

I'll re-read the substance info when I get a chance.

I was pretty sure it wasn't in "In the Darkness ..." but I remember there was lots of other stuff too.

It just seems like there is alot in that timespan that could be covered in future games.

I'm pretty sure everything detailed after the Shadow Moses Incident was just about Nastasha and her involvement with NEST and Richard Ames.

I belive it was mentioned in MGS2 that Philanthropy went around the the world destroying REX derivatives that has been developed, and despite the fact that they were preventing conflict between hostile nations with gaining power, The Patriots labelled their destructive operations as acts of terrorism in a plot to make them be condemned by the public.

I wonder why Kojima decided to associate them with the UN, clearly an arm of the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo in the games. I also wonder at the name-- another secret society with a "P" at the beginning.
