London attacked

Post by Jack »

I'm terribly saddened by the news today. There are no words to express sorrow for loss of human lives. I hope all of you UK forum users and relatives are okay.

I am really shocked by these events. I also deeply regret the loss of human life.

I don't think I've ever seen anything quite such... so totally wanton and ghastly. A mess, terrible.

There you go, there's my "isn't it terrible" post.

It is indeed terrible, my girlfriend would have been on one of those trains had she not had a day off today. Still, that doesn't mean the news needs to be on all day, especially when nothing new is happening. There's a tendency for people to revel in this kind of event, but the most effective thing to do is move on without sensationalising it.

You are right James. I hate when news programs just capitalize on the moment. I guess I can't blame them, since that is their business.. But at least that is the reason I'd rather read about it than watch the TV.

They also said it's to coincide to G8, I won't be surprised. Someone's probably against Tony Blair's opinions and wanted him to have no power over the G8's conclusion by making him return to No. 10. It's also the 7th of the 7th, and they'll now be 7 members of the G8.

Well, it's pretty safe to say that it wouldn't have happened if the UK hadn't got involved in the war with Iraq.

I wish they'd chosen a different date, though. Had it been a day earlier or a day later, Americans would have been forced into using our method of referring to dates, like we had to do for September 11th.

This really is a bad day for the world. I saw some the images and can only imagine what it must be like to go through that.

Sorry, I'm uneducated on that... is the date read differently in Europe? Do you say it as Day/Month/Year there (unlike Month/Day/Year like in the U.S.)? Just curious.

Yeah, you're right, September 11th would 11/9 over here, rather than 9/11.

Heh, my favourite endlessly repeated media and general public buzzword for this event has been 'undescribable' - which, as far as I know, isn't actually a word.

'Indescribable' is just as annoying, though, especially when used right in the middle of a lengthy description.

Indeed. "indescribable" is the one being looked for I think.

Can you believe this though Rick: The front of the Daily Express actually had written on it "Special Edition" and "Trapped And Burned In the Tunnel of Death."

That's made me grin out loud. I hope the Star follows up its brilliant 'BASTARDS' by saying that we had a 'Carnival of Carnage' or a 'Menu of Mayhem' served up on Thursday.

I've really been enjoying the overly macabre descriptions of what happened, too. "Look at that building - it's covered in blood!'; 'The roof came off with a disgusting bang and dead bodies sprang out like those joke worms you get in cans'; 'Limbs flew off and quite literally slapped the British public in the face,' etc.

'Literally' - there's another word that gets me worked up. "The bus roof actually literally and physically came off!"

"Man with eyepatch, thank you. Sobbing doctor, how much blood actually was there then?"

I don't know why I'm complaining, I should just stop watching TV.

There's something about the way these people move that tells you they are a nation at war. Look into their eyes, and you can read the words 'I have a reservation at the restaurant of death'. It's a messy bistro, with a bad name for soiling its customers' clothes.
(My real name's not Rick, by the way though, Jonathan.)

This really isn't suprising as it is really sad... It'd make ya wonder yet if people would catch on, noticing all the nazi guards, and high security (I.D. program) suddenly coming into power so swiftly... pffff sounds all but too familier eh kiddies? Organized acts to vouchsafe higher security... welcome to the order EU.

Didn't Bush use the attack as a way of justifying the Iraq war and the 'war on terror'?

But yeah, they'll be pushing for ID cards over here now.

It's quite amusing to think they were going to show 'terrorist thriller' The Siege on Saturday night - a film that contains a scene in which a suicide bomber blows up a bus full of people. They showed the relatively harmless Gone in 60 Seconds instead. This 'cancelled due to recent events' thing is all a bit pointless, though, isn't it? Especially when they're going on about what happened pretty much constantly on the BBC. That said, I don't watch ITV and The Siege is a bit rubbish anyway.

I hope the first example prototypes of the cards that the government show us have "W. SMITH" on them.

I can just imagine something like that popping up on B3TA.com, anyway.

Blair got over it all quite quickly, didn't he? He's on BBC1 now singing quite merrily about Jesus!

Jesus!

I'd love to see a prototype one with "W. SMITH," that would be good. Nice one there.

Cause that's the perogative to coax the masses. To show the excuses of humanity for higher security, thus overruling the pettiness of increased security for higher members only. They always try brainwash you with that anti-darwin fall out. Everyone's at stake, everyone's gonna wear the flea collar.

And man am I pist... Die Hard was sopposed to come on as well... What the fuck did the germans have to do with anything!? Fucking Hans Gruber...

Yeah it's already on the way, they need just one more push so people feel the need for the draft, to supply the mega powers of the U.N. with infinite desposable lives to take over the world. But I don't wanna turn this topic "political" now, do I?

That means you'll be the first to suspect.

Anyway, terrorist or not, you can't look at this attack as anything more than human nature. Maybe the people who committed this act want to say there was a cause for it, but the truth is, we're all just savages, whether we admit it or not. We all have instincts to hurt or kill things at one time or another. Though we're worse than other animals, because we kill without reason much of the time (or without good reason). I'm not saddened by this sort of thing, because I've come to expect it from people.
