The title is pretty much self-explanatory. I'm looking to pick up any Metal Gear books (besides MGSnaked and Art of MGS1) and expand my collection a bit. Art of MGS2 is a given, but what about other books?
I'm interested in MGS2: The Making and the MGS Scenario books. I'm specifically looking for anything that goes in-depth about the game's plot or development. Any recommendations?
Any Metal Gear books to recommend?

The walkthroughs are surprisingly worthwhile. They show all the guard's patrol routes and what items they carry. I bought them after playing the games a good few times, so it was never to help my progress as such, but I developed cool techniques from it. The guides helped me remember where guards were likely to be at certain times, so I could roll on top of them from roofs and the like.
The NES Worlds of Power novel is a good read if you want to know how little Konami of America cared about the plot of the MSX game.

books
the metal gear soliud 3 piggyback is quite good for the story of the other games aswell because it contains a sumary of 1, 2, and 3 along with an analysis of them. pages on interperetaions and a timeline from 1914 to 2009.

Thanks! I've seen some scans of the PiggyBack Guide for MGS3. They have a complete chart of all the camos and face paints IIRC. Looked a bit better than the BradyGames' version.87th wrote:I'm not sure how all this happened while I was away.
Anyway, I was reffering to the Official European guides published by Piggyback. I don't think they differ from the Official American guides, except for the fact that they cover the European Exclusive features, too.

I was thoroughly impressed with the PiggyBack guide. Beautifully arranged; well-written; contained information on virtually every aspect of the game; plenty of artwork all over the place, etc etc. Not really a neccesity, but well worth getting, I'd say. The care that's gone into it is what I most like about it, I think.Johnny Undaunted wrote:Thanks! I've seen some scans of the PiggyBack Guide for MGS3. If you're looking for a MGS guide, the MGS3 Complete Guide (Japanese one) is probably the most amazing guide I've ever seen for any game. You won't be disappointed. Every single piece of info in the game can be found in that 530 page monster. Absolutely everything. They even give you strategies for completing the game by crawling (whenever you can, ladders etc. excepted)!
