Junker blaster reference material

Post by Crowley »

With my wandering mind I started thinking of something, which in turn led me to wonder what material there is describing the blaster outside of the game? I've noticed some nice stuff in the CD-ROMantic guidebook, but unfortunately those scans don't seem to cover the entire section concerning the blaster there. What else is there?

There is a single page in the CD-ROMantic booklet, page 25. Card 93 has the same diagram with quite less information there.

The official guide might have a bit more, I'll compare them tonight when I arrive home since I only have a copy of CD-ROMantic here at the office (only have 1 of those books!).

I'll also check the UK release.

Good thing I didn't sleep at the office tonight, though I must be honest... that sleeping bad does marvels to my back =P

Well, I did check and the information in all versions is the same. I checked the MSX , CD-ROMantic, Official Guidebook and the trading cards. All have the same information. And as I recalled, the UK release had the same.. so I made the following:

Junker Blaster

I'll be doing the rest since I believe it is information that should be up.. even if similar content is available at The Kremlin... since it is not available as the Japanese manuals had it, with the blueprints and all. The UK edition does have them as well.

I also dropped the images from the Official Guide, with a bit of tweaking they look better.

Thank you, this is just the kind of information I was looking for. The measurements are especially helpful. I wonder what happened to that photographed prop?

Have you visited the Kremlin recently? What is going on with that site?

I like to believe the prop is rendered.. because of the background. But it would be interesting if it wasn't. Yes, I've visited the Kremlin, and I am worrieed about that as I posted in the news of Junker HQ. I hope it is an April's fool thing, as he sometimes does. The site is still intact under it though.

That picture of SD Gibson is clearly edited, adding the beard and changing the hair. Frankly I'm tired of websites putting up false "we're closing down" news as April fools.

The reason I started asking for this stuff was that once again I began pondering the possibility of building a prop Junker blaster. At first glance that doesn't seem like such a huge problem considering it's big boxy design. Seems like you could just strap it around some smaller gun, possibly an airsoft. Personally I wouldn't be opposed to altering the grip since it's supposed to be ergonomically customized for each Junker, and that boxy grip always seemed like a far cry from ergonomy to me. The main problem I keep coming back to is how high up the barrel of the gun is. I looked up the Hellsing Jackal airsoft, and even that doesn't measure up to the blaster!

As official as that diagram may be, the measurements in it don't match up against each other. In hindsight I'm surprised it took me this long to notice.
