Metal Gear War Propaganda Ads

Post by Vicious »

The Penny Arcade Forums were having a contest over converting old War Propaganda Ads into modern day video game related adverts.

Being the Metal Gear Nut that I am, I figured I would share with you guys the stuff I made for the contest.

Looked almost exactly like the original ad.

Right now this is the fan favorite.

It just fit so right for The Boss.

And Eva as well...

I like the first two best. Could you point me to the original artwork you used for the first one? I've seen it before somewhere and I absolutely love that picture of Rex in action. The Snatcher one suffers somewhat from the low resolution of the original image used. Would be interesting to see it done with the corresponding picture of the Playstation or Saturn version, if it does exist in them.

I got them from mixed sources...

But, if you type 'WW2 Propaganda' on google image search you should find each and every one.

Those are gerat man, thanks for sharing them here =)

Regarding the google search, try using the same google (i.e. uk, mx, etc) since they all use slighlty different databases.

What I was referring to was the artwork showing Metal Gear REX in a combat situation, not the propaganda posters. Couldn't find that on Google.

http://junkerhq.net/MetalGear/ttsppimages.html under Rex by Yoshiyuki Takani. There was a cleaned up version of this scan done by someone at the IGN forums... who never answered to my requests to post it.

I still have it in higher resolution without retouching... (3492x2504)

Thank you, that is exactly what I had seen. I remember it was slightly bigger than my screen at 1024x768 resolution. I never noticed that blur in the place of the centerfold seam when I didn't know to look for it.

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it =P

Here is the full resolution scan in case some one cares or wants to blur it in a higher res image:
