Yep, the whole thing was caked in a protective layer of bubble wrap as to avoid damage during transport. The game itself is in excellent condition, no scratches on the case, the manual is in good nick and the CD itself is in mint condition, save for a miniscule scratch.
Provided below is a photo of the item, though it's just your typical PAL copy of the game:
You'll have to excuse the lacklustre quality of the image.

Also, I've been meaning to ask. I'm planning on building up a Kojima collection of my own and would like a few tips on what to look out for and what to start with.
At the moment, once I'm settled down with a job, I plan on getting the MGS3 Snake Eater Premium Pack as well as that TTS Premium Pack. In addition, there's the Policenauts Visual Date Book which I'm interested in too.

*sigh* I really wish i picked up snatcher when i owned a sega cd. i could never find a copy though... I remember reading about it in magazines.. It reminded me of rise of the dragon execpt cartoony (i didnt know about Anime at that age.). I only recently played snatcher... because when i was in highschool about 4 years ago, my friend told me about policenauts and how it was a kojima game. then i did some research found how kojima made snatcher and it sparked my interest again...

I enthusiastically recommend the Visual Databook to everyone. The best part is you don't need to know Japanese to enjoy it; it's full of great artwork and design sheets, not to mention those high-res screens of the game.

Yes, I managed to find a good buy on eBay; the plonker was selling it at buy it now for a measly; £10! I was so suspicious about it all, then I got the item and it was perfect, as new. I couldn't quite believe my luck really...
I just re-purchased a Sega CD version of the game that I only got in the mail the other day. It cost me about $60, but this one was complete with the manual and in mint condition. I figured it was worth it. Add to that, I also picked up the Japanese version of Subsistence. If you want to start your Kojima collection off with something nice, I'd suggest picking that up. It cost me about $65 new on eBay.
I'm curious: is the Mega CD version in 50 Hz? (If yes, I suppose the FM tunes are played at a lower tempo?)
Unfortunately, I don't own a Mega-CD, so I'm unable to answer your question. However, it's a good bet that it will be in 50 Hz. That's just an open guess, mind you. I've been trying to track down a Mega-CD for a while now, they're strangely difficult to find.

They are that, I've also been trying my hardest to find one as well (seperate from the Mega Drive that is).

The refresh rate on Mega CD/Sega CD units is hardware- rather than software controlled. It's quite easy to get your PAL unit to output 60 hz, you just have to solder a switch onto the motherboard and cut a trace. This should work on NTSC units as well in case you'd want them to output 50 hz for whatever reason. It won't help you bypass the region lockout on games though.

Are you in the UK? Gamestation sells them quite a lot. That's where I got mine. If you see it packaged with a MegaDrive, just ask if they could seperate them, at the counter. The staff are often quite friendly, and appreciate talking to people who know about games, so they should be able to help.

I'm not Gaff, but I can answer to that.
Played in a standard PAL Mega CD (I mean, without modding), it obviously is in 50hz, as that matter concerned more the display hardware than the game itself.
However, the game actually features optimization in order to prevent those issues. This concerns mainly on the tunes played by the own console, as Red Book audio is never affected by the video system due to being a separated function.
Hey! You still don't have a Sega CD?
What are you waiting for, Nintendo to make one?
Wow, I knew I was lucky when I got my copy of Snatcher, but I had no idea I was this lucky. Here's how I got mine: (sorry to bother you but I've never got what is considered a "rare" game before so I felt that this is worth telling)
I never owned a Mega CD. I first played Snatcher about a year ago using Gens with a downloaded ISO. I had no idea it would be so mind-blowingly good and I was quick to tell my friends about it and make them try it at my house.
I had heard about how incredibly rare the game was- going for more than £80 on EBay and other sites like that. Which was why I was so surprised when the two friends of mine that played the game at my house said they saw it in the bargin bin at my local GameStation. I dismissed it as rubbish, assuming they must had gotten it confused with another Cyberpunk game or something.
So one day about two weeks later, after I had a had a haircut, I thought I would pop into the shop to see if it existed and if it was still there. And it was. Not mint condition, but playable. Even though I don't own a Mega CD, I had to get it for the sake of getting it. Besides, I can use the disk in Gens.
How much did I pay for it?
Three pounds.
I got Snatcher for a mere £3 without even trying to find a copy.
And that's not the end of it. In the bargin bin, it was a "buy one get one free" deal. I was in a hurry so I just grabbed a random copy of Micro Machines V3 for the PS1.
And because Snatcher was £2.75 and Micro Machines was £2.99 I only paid for the more expensive of the two so technically, I got Snatcher free with a copy of Micro Machines.
So was this great luck or are the rumours about people paying £50+ for a copy of Snatcher just a fallacy?
You were lucky indeed. The game usually goes by the prices you say, buy mint copies and sold by people that know that fact, and to people that know that as well.
If a regular person has a box of old games in the basement taking space, and goes to the shop to sell them in order to get Halo 2 he won't know if they are "collector's items".. and the guys at the store might not know that as well.
Then you end up just like you did,
Congrats man.
