Metal Gear Acid 2: New Cards for North American version.

Post by Johnny Undaunted »

According to a few interviews with Shinta Nojiri, there'll be ten new cards in the North American version of MGA2. Four are fanmade cards selected from a contest Konami sponsored with IGN, Gamespy and 1UP (and some other company), while the rest are from Metal Gear Solid 4.

Here's a complete checklist.

289. Emma's Parrot (1UP)
290. Banana Skin (IGN)
291. Jack
292. Possessed Arm (GameSpy)
293. Solid Eye
294. Solid Snake (MGS4)
295. Otacon (MGS4)
296. GEKKO
297. Metal Gear Mk.2 MGS4
298. No Smoking

I'm guessing it becomes "The End's Parrot" after upgrade (MGA2 has an upgradable card system).

Does anyone know from which publication the "Jack" card comes from?

P.S: I must also add that the lack of a Random Hajile card is pretty dissapointing. I'm pretty surprised no one at this contest bothered to make one.

I was just about to say "agree".. but Osiris beat me to that...

So I am just going to add that I am glad about the Metal Gear Mk.2 MGS4 Card.. interesting little thing ^^

And I found interesting the idea of including the Possessed Arm... It would be inteersting what that card brought in terms of reflection to the team. I mean, did they think of it a s a joke? As something serious to develop on? Or as a step to give it relevance in MGS4?

Well it's from the Snake vs. Ape minigame, so...

Here's the definition they gave of Solid Eye in the MGA2 trailer in case anyone cares.

Solid Eye: Snake's monitor-equipped eye-patch developed by Otacon. Images captured by Solid Eye are analyzed by the host computer which then produces detailed information on visible surroundings such as vehicles or enemies. The system can also produce data on Snake's current location and the progress of the current battle, unifying all useful data under one system. Solid Eye is equipped with a retina laser that projects 3D representations of solid bodies in view.

Here are the passwords for each of the MGS4 for MGA2. I took them from GameFAQs, but I've not tested them yet (I've lended the game to someone who actually has a PSP).

snake = Unlocks MGS4 Solid Snake card.
otacon = Unlocks MGS4 Otacon card.
mk2 = Unlocks MGS4 Metal Gear Mk. II card.
gekko = Unlocks Gekko card.
smoking = Unlocks No Smoking card.
tobidacid = Unlocks Solid Eye card.

Can anyone try to test each of the passwords. If so, pleae provide the description for each card.

Here's what they say about Gekko (copied from another forum).

Gekko: A mass-produced, pilot-less Metal Gear. Equipped with onboard AI system granting Gekko near-sentient intelligence. Unit's powerful legs are composed of artificially grown muscle capable of making agile maneuvers such as long-distance leaps. Armed with nuclear weapons.

I hope there will be a card contest for MGA2 like IGN made, because i would make the Snake´s Revenge card. Using it would grant you infinite health for 40 cost then they would pass out. Oh and it should have this picture

Rest of the definitions. Not much though.

Metal Gear Mk. II: A remote controlled, miniature Metal Gear designed to assist soldiers on the battlefield. This mobile unit can supply weapons and ammunition to infantry, analyze the status of soldiers, scout enemy territories and traverse dangerous grounds - an invaluable asset to the unit.

Solid Snake: Known as "the legendary soldier" in ages past, Solid Snake has returned to the battlefield once more to rid the world of Metal Gear threats. Despite his previous efforts, Metal Gear units have proliferated around the globe. Snake is determined to return to the battlefield once more, but who will he face?

Otacon: Genius scientist and member of anti-Metal Gear organization Philanthropy. Oracon supports Solid Snake in his NGO activities. A diehard fan of Japanese animation -- especially those starring robots -- Otacon channeled his hobby and designed the deadly Metal Gear REX long ago. He now fights alongside Snake via the miniature mk2, a remote-controlled Metal Gear.
