Only the game developers themselves know. It could be the remainder of a removed cheat code.

It gives you access to the uncensored version of the game.

Yeah, it probably unlocked some of the gore of the game in a censored earlier build (see the GameFan screenshot of Alice). Thank god the localization staff had the balls to keep none of the bloody stuff locked away as an easter egg. They forgot to take out that little sound, though...maybe they left it in just to confuse us.

Why'd they have to censor nudity? (Lisa's boobs falling out of her top when you gun her down)

EDIT: It's not really important to the game, but they left the blood in and all, so why not the boobs?

Because this country was settled by puritans who thought it was frivolous and ungodly to wear bright colors. For us, it's fine to have kids play Doom all day, but heaven forbid they see parts of the female anatomy in a video game.

Well, in movies, I think it's because the person on screen isn't really being killed, whereas the people on screen are really naked. In games, I don't know.

When I saw my first TV and movies when I was only a few years old, I thought that whenever someone got killed on-screen, they really did kill somebody for it.

Could just mean you have hit an Easter Egg. I wondered about them too. They come up when you punch in developer names too.

On a side note, when you first mentioned JORDAN, I was like... what? JORDAN, who's that? I have the original Japanese version and the JUNKER computer's name is GAUDY. =) I have to remember that. *sticks memo to forehead*

It has always been discussed if it really is an easter egg. It all began because in a magazine it was published that entering KONAMI at Jordan/Gaudi would unlock an "uncensored" version of the game. But so far, no difference to the content of the game has been found. This was only regarding the Sega/Mega Cd version of the game.

Regarding the developer names, they have always been present in one for or another, but the texts have changed in all versions.

I bet that you will be interested in the text dumps, check out all the text from the PC-88, MSX, Sega/Mega CD, Saturn and Playstation versions of Snatcher at: http://junkerhq.net/dumps.html

Have fun!

It possibly did unlock an uncensored version, as we have the GameFan screenshot where Alice is different.

Indeed Osiris is right... we've thought all along that the censorship was removed from the game before release.

Well, frankly, I don't believe it's a matter of unlocking anything, I think the beeps are an indication that you have found an Easter Egg... that is to say, the names, or info in Gaudi are the Easter Eggs. Not that they are necessarily unlocking anything. This is just my opinion though.

You are right, I do believe it is indeed an Easter Egg. But I am sure it is not a code, which is what many people believe it is. Nice to make that distinction. Thanks.
