Marc, I'm not sure how often you check your email, so I'm just posting them here.

I'm not sure who all here does all the translation, but perhaps you can collaborate if Osiris doesn't feel like doing it all himself.

-Thanks a lot!

Well, I've started translating the game plan, and it's coming along a lot faster than I'd expected. Watch this space. :)

Edit: The translation is done, and will be up at Junker soon.

I didn't notice until now, but the rejected members of Raiden's support crew (Daniel Quinn, Maxine Work and William Wilson) and Peter Stillman were all aliases used by the protagonist of City of Glass.

Since I can't read Japanese, I'd like to translate your English translation of the Japanese game plan (I know, it sounds weird and unprofessional) into French for the site in my signature.
Of course, if you agree, there'll be a link to your work and you'll be credited.

Kojima also refers to Raiden's father as "Fanshawe", one of the main characters of The Locked Room.

I also noticed Emma's full name comes from the scientist in the novel Time and Again (E.E. Danziger).

Nice find. I remember reading somewhere (in a Japanese Konami guide or something) where they basically admit MG2 took stuff from that J.C. Pollack (did I get that right?) novel. I can't think where, though.

I noticed that MGS2 and MGS3 both had lot of unused backstory (i.e: Volgin being a former boxer, Para-Medic being a dirvocee, Ames practising Judo). I'm starting to wonder whether some of the stuff from Millenium's MGS Mission Handbook were just unused material from the Game Plan.

The tentative ETA for the game plan translation is tomorrow (July 31st), to coincide with the relaunch of TUS (http://www.metalgearsolid.org). There'll be a PDF version that's similar to the original document, and an HTML version that's interspersed with screenshots and artwork.

I'm reading the document and something stood out:
Spoiler:
Well it says it's 'MGSIII' and it references the three tallest skyscrapers... so, given the date on the document I assume that was part of the post 9/11 changes.
Interesting read, though.

Wasn't the "MGSIII" title changed way before the 9/11 ?

Yes
Spoiler:
I think the original trailer had some reference to "MGSIII", but I don't think it went further than that

Those first 2 trailers had quite a few elements in common with the game plan. 'MGSIII', the plant still being called Big Blue Apple...and I guess that's it, heh. It had other elements, but they remained the same in the game (Raiden being sent to plant as the last member of FOXHOUND, etc.).

The title was changed way before 9/11. The only changes they made regarding 9/11 was the removal of the Arsenal cut-scene and bits of dialogue throughout the game, like one line where someone (possibly Raiden) asked, "So is he (the President) one of the terrorists?"

Yeah, one of the guys from TUS sent me the link. Thanks, though. :) Great title for their article. I can't wait to see that movie.

By the way, there are some new "goodies" lined up. Revised Drama CD translations and MGS Naked translations. There'll be a new article posted there each Friday.
