I also want to recommend another anime (be4 it slips my mind) The "Original Dirty Pair ". Its anime form the 1980s and while not cyber punk in theme (its buddy cops in space with 2 female cops) it has some cyber punk elements and visuals. Get the TV shows and the OVAs and the Movies if you can. They are all great!

Another one here I watched last night, Death Race 2000.
It's set in a dystopian future (lol, 2000), and it revolves around this famous transcontinental race where running over pedestrians wins you points. Pretty much Mad Max meets Carmageddon. It's a black comedy, and is both the worst film ever made AND the best film ever made. It's fantastic.

Check out the Euthanasia Day clip, it's amusing. As the cars roar into Pennsylvania, the cradle of liberty, it seems apparent that our citizens are staying off the streets, which may make scoring particularly difficult, even with this year's rule changes. To recap those revisions: women are still worth 10 points more than men in all age brackets, but teenagers now rack up 40 points, and toddlers under 12 now rate a big 70 points. The big score: anyone, any sex, over 75 years old has been upped to 100 points.

I'm into Asian cinema now. For the non anime stuff I've watching: Dynamite Warrior, Kill Zone and City of Violence.
Good flicks!
Also I will have to check out Death Race 2000. Been meaning to see it- thanks for the memory jog.
Oh, yeah Dirty Pair Flash too is part of the Dirty Pair anime items I mentioned earlier.
If you want an amusing doc see XXXL about John Homes (porn star). Its a good look into that whole 70s/80s era of porn making.
EDIT: Man Bites Dog? Just remembered that one. Ratperson665 is that the French movie about the killer who has a film crew follow him around? Came out in the early 90s? Fuck that was Reservoir Dogs style violent and just as cool if I recall correctly. Good film!

My bad... I had an 'Hercule Poirot' moment where one ignorant character (myself in this case) erroneously mistakes a Belgian for a French person.

"Halloween 2" yesterday at my friends. Pretty good movie. We were all drinkin and makin' fun of how Jamie Lee Curtis is a hermophrodite. Hahaha.
Anyway,
I'm not really sure what movie I'd like to see next. Anything scary, mysterious, or action-packed sounds good. "Rambo IV" I definitely wanna check out. And of course, the Metal Gear Solid film.

last watched: 2010 (1984) and Crash (2004).
2010 is pretty good if you take 2001 out of the equation and watch it as its own movie.
Crash was a very powerful drama. I'm very glad I saw it.
Next: The Abyss.

John Carpenter's The Thing
Horrifying, yet amazing. 1982 is turning into a great year for film, sans E.T. Quite possibly my new favourite horror film, perhaps even toppling the underrated Event Horizon from its pedestal. The special effects were incredible, and just goes to prove that you don't need fancy CGI. Here's another example, the Alien Queen in Aliens was made entirely from animatronics - and it still looks miles better than those CGI warrior aliens we saw in Alien versus Predator.
And my favourite line in the film:

WarGames
Matthew Broderick simultaneously places the world into peril, and saves it from its own destruction. Classic 80s film and one of Broderick's first roles, great for all those pseudo-hackers out there who like pushing buttons. I liked the end scene showing all the scenarios of nuclear war, and all of them ending with the same result - mutual destruction.

Last watched: The Abyss. Nifty movie untill the end. It was a popcorn movie until the last about 15 minutes. Then It got all preachy and tried to have meaning, but failed. Still a good movie though.
