Is someone around the LA area? Or will be this weekend for the screening? Just checking, maybe I'll get to meet at least one of you this weekend.
From the mathematical perspective, consciousness might be regarded as a second derivative of sensation.

You'll love the Final Cut, all the changes were necessary and it's a lot more bloody! Go out and have some fun, wear your Deckard coat if you've got one.Snatcher wrote:Is someone around the LA area? Hey, has anybody seen The Haunted World of El Superbeasto over here? Because i was wondering if i should buy the DVD. In case you don't remember it by its name, it's about a mexican wrestler who fights an Evil mad scientist, in the fantastic world of Monsterland.
Sounds pretty dull, but I am genuinely interested on it.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the sympathy guys I mean, I'm sure it's the case with 87th as well, that the DVD set is the top of my Christmas list.
I've been using my jobseekers allowance funds (off the Government) to buy my friends and family gifts, so I've had no money to spend on myself (haha). Can't wait to see it though (as well as the workprint edition of the film).

I think I'm in the same boat as you. Unemployed, and squeezing every penny. I'm supposed to hear back from a company in the next couple of days, but I don't expect to get the job (despite really wanting it). If I'm unsuccessful, I'll apply to some dreadful call centre or supermarket. It'll be crap, but it'll be money; something that looks more beautiful to me every day.Henry Spencer wrote:Thanks for the sympathy guys I mean, I'm sure it's the case with 87th as well, that the DVD set is the top of my Christmas list.
As for the Final Cut? Yes; I'd love it for Christmas, but I doubt I'll get it since I've agreed with everyone that I won't be getting them anything for Christmas this year (subtly giving them permission not to buy me anything for Christmas, while not making them think that I'll refuse anything they plan to buy me).

Do you enjoy going to the Job Centre as much as I do? I make a meal out of everything, so I have to dance my way there and back.I think I'm in the same boat as you. Currently, I'm working voluntarily in a charity shop; you have to work at no more than 16 hours to claim benefit, so that's how it goes. Go to charity shop from the morning to afternoon, for four hours work every weekday except Thursday. Honestly, I've been looking that long for a job now (which I might mention all employers are wishful for experienced office workers), that it just feels good to be working and getting out of the house, even if it is for a bit! My friends are all at university, so it gets very boring lately. I try to make the most of my time whilst I am at home with my family.
Guess this is just a stepping stone in my life; experience boredom in its greatest form, before getting a job. Soon, Timothy, soon. (Due to the excessive boredom, and enclosed environment, I developed my own friends.)
What's the job you're looking for? I'm just looking for anything general office work really (administrator, data entry, file clerk; that sort of shit just to get my first foot in the door, as a way of gaining experience).
Since you live so close by, you must have seen me in Manchester centre. I need your help, man. Again, I reiterate... Big Issue.jcgamer60 wrote:lol, sure it is

I've been sending out applications but I hardly get anything bad, I hate going up to the Job Centre, just in case they say I haven't done something I should have. I keep sending out applications via fish4jobs, you can do ten a penny thanks to the magic of the internet.

I'm being stupid. I'm not claiming benefits. I'm using savings that I've had since I was 5. Another couple of months of unemployment, and I'll have to start selling things to pay rent and tax.Henry Spencer wrote: Do you enjoy going to the Job Centre as much as I do? Of course, I've heard that call centres will take anyone and pay quite high, too. The work's supposed to be the worst in the world, though. That's my "last resort", as it were.
I should watch where I say this, but the job I want is in *suspenseful pause* viral marketing for *another pause* Sony (alongside a few other gaming publishers). I was contacted about it in Summer, as a guy I know from some message board works there. He told me that he thought I had a good shot at it, as he knew about my overly-dedicated attitude to forums, and he was married to the woman in charge of filling the vacancies.
Basically, my job would consist of going on forums and suggesting that 'game X' or 'console Y' is really good, while assuming the role of 'average joe z'. I could work from anywhere [read: Room 903, Hotel Raizan North, Nishinari-Ku, Osaka], do as much work as I want (no minimum hours, I heard) and earn quite a pretty penny for it (£8 an hour's pretty good for the work).
Unfortunately, I wasn't so sure about the way my interview went. If I had much competition for the job, I wouldn't be too confident about my chances. If I get the job, I'll feel as lucky as I did when I won the chance to meet Roger Daltrey.

But, in your case, for 8 pounds an hour (which comes off as about 48 pesos), i wouldn't give a DAMN!

Not at the start. The first while will all be research based, but I know guys who work there. Apparently they get to do Beta testing for online games, if Sony like them enough. Apparently a couple of them have met Phil Harrison through their work. It's all very exciting stuff, for me.RandommodnaR wrote:Yes, that sounds good, but do you actually get to play those games?87th wrote: Basically, my job would consist of going on forums and suggesting that 'game X' or 'console Y' is really good, while assuming the role of 'average joe z'. You've used the "uncle" word. You're asking for an incredibly long-winded story!
Well, this was June 2006. Me and a friend travelled to Liverpool to see The Who. I'm a massive Who fan, and this was the first time I'd see them, so I was really excited. I kind of fantasised about what the gig would be like for a long time. I even considered the possibility of getting something signed. I thought it was pretty unlikely, but I couldn't help but think how annoyed I'd be if I got the opportunity and didn't bring anything to get signed. I considered it, and decided I'd bring my LP of "The Who Sell Out". It made sense since only Roger and Pete were on the cover (the only living members), and it was my favourite Who album.
When I got there, with my album, I realised how hard it would be to meet the band. I was pretty excited though, when I saw that Yoko Ono's "Imagine" charity had set up a competition to go backstage after the show and meet Roger Daltrey. Me and my friend immediately rushed to their stall and bought 4 tickets for the raffle. I explained that I really hoped to meet the band, since I was such a big fan, and I even brought my record and permanent marker. They said that if I had won, they'd text my mobile phone during the show. I didn't think I'd win, but it was worth a shot.
The concert was really great. The atmosphere was brilliant, and the band were on top form. Throughout the gig, Townshend kept harping on about how happy he was with the audience. I think it was during "Love, Reign O'er Me", I felt my phone vibrating. I didn't look at it, since I was enjoying the show so much.
After the show finished, I was on a complete high. A voice from the giant speakers announced that a woman had won the competition. "Ah, well" I thought, "I never expected to win it". I started to leave, but checked to see what the message was about. It was from the charity; they said that I should go to the front of the stage. I had no idea what it was about, but I was getting really excited. When I got there, and asked them what had happened, they told me that the competition had three winners, and I was one of them. They also said that each winner could bring a friend. I was incredibly excited at this point.
The women lead us backstage, and I saw all the band's gear. It was all stuff that I had seen from backstage footage. I was really excited to see it. I wasn't even thinking of meeting the singer from The Who, at this point. The security was pretty lax at this point, so I was really tempted to try and take a lead or something, but I restrained myself.
We moved into a courtyard area, and members of the band were chatting with the road-crew and organisers. I couldn't believe it. Simon Townshend and Pino Paladino were just metres away from me. John "Rabbit" Bundrick took a drink from the same refrigerator as me. I was sitting at a table next to Zak fucking Starkey! I was on top of the world!
It wasn't until Roger Daltrey came out of his dressing room that I really felt lucky, though. He came into the courtyard, asking for vegetarian sushi (which I thought was pretty odd, since he owns a fish farm), before the women from the charity told him about the competition winners. He then started to approach us, and I realised "Fucking hell! You're talking to Tommy!".
He's never really been one to act like a "big star", but I couldn't help but come across as a dumbstruck fan. I barely remember what I said to him. It was pretty much a blur, but he seemed kind of uncomfortable with my level of admiration. I totally lost any "cool" I had prior to that point. It didn't really matter though; I had met Roger Daltrey. That's pretty fucking cool!
He talked to the other winners, and then posed with us in a photo. I look like a mess in the thing (I'd just seen The Who play in a big tent in one of the hottest days of the year), but again, the fact that Roger Daltrey has his hand on my shoulder cancels that out completely.
In all the excitement, I almost forgot to ask him to sign my album. I was told that Roger only agreed to meet the fans and take a photo with each pair. I ignored this point, and hopped over to him with the album and a pen. "Excuse me, Mr Daltrey?" I asked in a wobbly voice, "could you please sign my album?". He looked at the photo of himself in a bath of beans for a couple of seconds, and took the pen from my hand. My album was signed. He then proceeded to sign items for everyone, with my pen.
I asked one of the women from the charity if I had any hope in meeting Pete, but apparently he hadn't agreed to meet anyone after the concert, so unless he personally decided to come out into the courtyard, we had little chance.
